About First Camp

First Camp helps people prepare for an unfamiliar first camping trip without buying a garage full of equipment.

What this site does

The planner turns a few trip details into a preparation countdown, a prioritized gear list, and practical quantity estimates. The recommendations favor borrowing, practicing and checking local conditions before purchasing more gear.

Who publishes it

First Camp is an independently operated project based in California, United States. It is not affiliated with a campground, park, government agency, retailer or outdoor brand.
